                                May 2010 - Members Exhibit

                              Show dates: May - May 30, 2010
                               Reception Friday, May 7, 5-8pm

The first Members' Show of 2010 is in May and the work of twenty-five 
of the gallery's members will be exhibited.  Included in this number 
are three new members:  Mary Ann Bowman, a ceramicist and 
photographer; Ileen Kaplan, a painter; and James Spitznagel, a 
photographer.  Members will exhibit paintings, drawings, photographs, 
prints, sculpture and other three-dimensional work. Some examples of 
the exhibits work are below, and at 
http://soag.org/may-members-show/.  Those of us who are not showing 
work in May will be in our September Members' Show.

Other Gallery News:

Stan Bowman has a piece at the Schweinfurth Art Gallery, Auburn, 
NY.  "Made in New York 2010" runs until May 16.

Barbara Mink will have two paintings on display at the Tompkins Trust 
Company downtown branch from the middle of May through June.

On Saturday May 8th 3-5 pm the gallery will host a free reading from 
the literary journal Essays and Fiction as part of the weekend's 2010 
Finger Lakes Literary Festival.  Readers will be Stephen Poleskie and 
Bob Proel, and more info is available from daniellewinterton at gmail.com.

Another in-gallery event is happening on Friday May 14th, when former 
member Kathy Morris will hold a reading and book-signing of her 
visual book Spinal Diary in an evening session from 6:45 to 8:00 pm. 
Morris's mixed media narrative, subtitled "Back Surgery and 
Creativity in the Age of the Uninsured", had its beginnings as an 
exhibition of large scale prints at the gallery in the fall of 2007.
