Since the age of eleven, Elisabeth Gross-Marks has been making art. She 
started painting pictures -- first of people, but after a time her work 
moved toward meticulously composed canvasses that were abstract. 
Throughout, the constant in her work -- whether representational or 
abstract has been its color -- bright, lively, expressive, moving color.

In the month of June, the State of the Art Gallery presents Elisabeth 
Gross-Marks' latest work, now breaking into three dimensions with even 
more brilliant color and adding to it with collaborations in music and 
dance..

    * During the opening reception on Friday, June 6, *clarinetist John
      Greenly *will perform music in response to Elisabeth Gross-Marks
      art. Greenly was co-writer and performer in the 2007 Light in
      Winter and is an active musician in and around Ithaca.
       
    * On June 18, 7:00 pm, *dancer Maren Waldman* will perform in
      collaboration with Elisabeth Gross-Marks' work. Waldman is
      enthusiastic about the project, saying, "Elisabeth's work and mine
      meet easily in that we both find urgent importance in celebrating
      the enthusiasm of life." Elisabeth Gross-Marks will also be
      available to discuss the work.
