Call for Entries
in the State of the Art Gallery's 16th annual
Juried Photography Show
Friday, March 4 -- Saturday, April 3, 2005
A minimum of $500 in prizes

To Enter: Download the entry form (Entry Form, PDF), fill it out, and bring it with a check for $30 made out to "State of the Art Gallery," along with your work for judging (see below). It is not necessary to mail it in advance. Our address is: 120 West State St., Ithaca, NY, 14850.

Each entrant may submit up to three works. All should be current and original, fully ready to hang, and use photographic processes in their creation. The works should not have been submitted to State of the Art Gallery (SOAG) competitions in the past. Current members of SOAG may not exhibit in this show. Each work must be accompanied by three index cards, each stating: the work's title; the entrant's name, address and phone number; technique (how you did it, e.g., "negative and c-print" or "digital image manipulated in Photoshop"); and price if for sale, "NFS" if not. Attach one card firmly to the back of the work; the other two cards must be attached to the front and be easily detachable.

Work should be brought to the gallery on Sunday, February 27, 5:00-8:00 pm or Monday, February 28, 3:00-7:00 pm. The deadline for forms, fee, and work is 7:00 pm February 28. The entry fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee that your work will be shown. If you cannot get your prints to the gallery on February 27 or 28 please contact Bill Evans by phone at 607-277-7551 or by email at drduckbill@hotmail.com to make other arrangements. Entrants whose work is not selected for exhibition will be notified promptly and must pick up their work by Thursday, March 3.

Selection & Prizes: Works chosen for hanging in the show, and those awarded prizes, will be selected for artistic excellence and technical competence, with consideration for quality of presentation as well. A panel of artist members of the State of the Art Gallery will do jurying. Well-known photographer Janice Levy will do prize judging. The show is made possible in part with public funds from the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County/New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program.

An opening reception will be held in conjuction with Gallery Night, March 4, 5:00-8:00 pm. Celebration and awarding of prizes will take place on Saturday, March 5, 5:00 to 8:00 pm. All entrants and their guests are invited. Prize presentation will take place at 6:30 pm. Work included in the show must be picked up on Sunday, April 3, noon-8:00 pm.

While the State of the Art Gallery, its members, and agents will make all reasonable efforts to protect your work, we cannot indemnify you against loss or damage to your work. In submitting your work to us you agree that the State of the Art Gallery is not liable and must be held harmless if your work is damaged or lost. Additionally you are agreeing that your work may be reproduced for the purpose of publicizing the show.
