Painting is a form of meditation. My paintings are created slowly over many days, as layer upon layer of marks is deposited on the canvas. A dense presence of color and texture results. Forms seem to emerge from the formless energy of the surface when the finished painting is contemplated. I feel as if I am a vehicle for the creative force that shapes the paintings, a channel for it to come through. This process is a mystery that I do not totally understand. |
