I’ve always been infatuated with multiple images and sequences and combinations of images, and “Drawing on Nature,” my most recent black-and-white portfolio, continues this love affair. The photographs in this series begin with multiple exposures on traditional 35mm film; I then scan the negatives and print the digital files on a seductive assortment of fine art papers. I think of these images as “icons” or “gestures”: they have as much to do with my background in painting, drawing, yoga and the movement arts, as with any picturesque or literal interpretation of landscape.

In addition, I work extensively in mixed media, primarily acrylic and collage, and that body of work (“Spirit Shepherds”) is more overtly autobiographical and surreal.

My career as a photographer and working artist in the Ithaca area spans over thirty years. I grew up in New York City, and received my MFA from Cornell University in 1976. My Ithaca Commons photo studio, Studio 97 Photography, (www.kathymorris.net) specializes in portraits and weddings.
