STATE OF THE WORLD AT STATE OF THE ART |
- The effect of global warming on our lives is indisputable.
- The world looked at from both macro and micro points of view remains perfect as usual.
- The political clout gained by the biotech industry could have dire consequences on the health of our planet on a variety of levels.
- The American flag displayed upside down [is] a signal of distress.
- I find inspiration in the textures and patterns created in nature by light, color, weather, age and natural predators.
- The plume of smoke from the power plant on Cayuga Lake constantly changes in color, volume, direction and size.what the plume is made of is dangerous and frightening.
- 'They paved paradise and put up a parking lot'.
These comments by some of artists of State of the Art Gallery are reflected in this exhibit. The gallery's nineteen member-artists agreed to explore the theme "The State of the World" in their work -- paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture and photography -- for this members' show . The work on display, however, demonstrates an agreement to disagree as some work expresses distress and concern about the state of the world while other pieces focus on its beauty.
