A group exhibition entitled "Alchemy" opens at State of the Art Gallery on Friday, January 28, from 5:00 to8:00 pm. The opening corresponds with Ithaca's Light in Winter , a festival in its second year that celebrates the fusion of art, music and science .

"Alchemy" will show the work of eight colorists -- four gallery members, Miri Amihai, Stan Bowman, Elisabeth Gross-Marks and Barbara Mink; and their invited guest artists -- Laurel Hecht, Victoria Romanoff, and Lynne Taetzsch. The watercolors of Margaret Heil (1895-1947) will also be part of the exhibition thanks to the efforts of her son, Tom Eisner, a performer in Light in Winter and Barbara Mink, artistic director of Light in Winter.
